The City of Statesville invites residents and visitors to celebrate the stories, traditions, and cultures that have shaped our community during the Statesville Heritage Festival on Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Statesville Event Center, 300 S. Center Street.

Held as part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration, the free festival will feature live entertainment, cultural performances, historical exhibits, educational presentations, local artisans, exhibitors, interactive activities, and food vendors. Designed for all ages, the event celebrates the rich heritage of Statesville while recognizing the many people, traditions, and experiences that continue to shape our community today.

Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy community conversations and presentations exploring local history, heritage, and the people and events that have helped shape Statesville. The schedule also includes opportunities to learn from community leaders, historians, and cultural organizations while engaging in meaningful conversations about our community's past, present, and future.

Families are also encouraged to take part in the Backpack Giveaway, hosted by the City of Statesville in partnership with Village Intervention Partnership (VIP), from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As part of this year's festival, the annual End of Summer Bash has been incorporated into the Statesville Heritage Festival, bringing the two events together into one community celebration.

Students will receive free backpacks filled with school supplies while supplies last, and community organizations will be on-site offering resources and information to help families prepare for the upcoming school year. Attendees can also enjoy free hot dogs prepared by the Statesville Police Department, along with music, games, children's activities, and opportunities to connect with local organizations.

"The Statesville Heritage Festival is about bringing people together to celebrate the history, cultures, and traditions that have shaped our community," said Richard Griggs, Director of Recreation & Economic Vitality for the City of Statesville. "Whether you're enjoying the entertainment, connecting with neighbors, discovering something new, or preparing your family for a new school year, we hope everyone leaves with a greater appreciation for the people and stories that continue to shape Statesville."

The Statesville Heritage Festival is part of the City of Statesville's participation in the nationwide America 250 celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence while reflecting on the history and heritage that continue to shape our community.

Admission is free, and the community is invited to attend.
