Statesville Shooting Incident – 610 Monroe Street

Statesville, North Carolina | May 3, 2023

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at approximately 10:30am, Statesville Police Officers responded to a call for shots fired at the 600 block of Monroe Street.  While enroute, officers were advised that Azariah Chambers, 20 of Statesville, arrived at Iredell Memorial Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.  Chambers was later transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for treatment of his injuries. 

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located shell casings in the road in front of 610 Monroe Street.  The SPD Violent Crimes unit is investigating this incident, and no other information is available at this time.  It is unknown if this incident is related to the shooting that occurred on 5th Street on May 2nd.   

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.
