City of Statesville Proclaims April (2025) as Child Abuse Prevention Month

Last Updated 3/26/2025Posted in Proclamations, Latest City News, Homepage

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh joined members of the Statesville Police Department and five incredible community agencies to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month (April). Together, we gathered to honor the importance of protecting children and preventing abuse in our community.

The “Tie-A-Tree Blue” event was led by:

🔹Department of Social Services

🔹Dove House Children's Advocacy Center

🔹NC Guardian ad Litem

🔹Iredell County Partnership for Young Children

🔹Pharos Parenting

Blue ribbons were placed on a tree to serve as symbols of hope—and to share vital information on how to report abuse and neglect.

📜 Mayor Kutteh also presented a proclamation officially declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Statesville. 📜

Look for the tree wrapped in blue at the corner of Tradd and Water Streets. Let it remind us of our collective responsibility to keep children safe.

The City of Statesville NC is proud to stand with our partners in prevention—through education, awareness, and advocacy. Let’s continue to protect, uplift, and support the children in our community. 💙
