Construction Activity Begins at Old Parrish Tire Site for Police Expansion and Parking Deck

Last Updated 5/19/2025Posted in Statesville Police Department, Latest City News, Homepage

Construction is ramping up at the corner of Tradd Street and East Front Street as DELCO, the contractor for the Statesville Police Department expansion and new parking deck, begins work at the former Parrish Tire building.

Starting tomorrow, two cranes will be on site and barricades will be in place to fully block vehicle access to the parking lot. By the end of the week, the property will be enclosed with a construction fence as crews begin staging for this major project.

🚫 Please note: Parking at the old Parrish Tire site will no longer be available.

Recently, the parking lot has been used by motorists as a cut-through to avoid the nearby road closure at Tradd and Front due to the sinkhole issue. That will no longer be possible. Once barricades and fencing are in place, vehicles will be required to turn around and find alternate routes.

Please be aware:

  • This will be an active construction zone for the foreseeable future.
  • Motorists should avoid the area unless they are visiting nearby businesses, which remain open and accessible.
  • The sidewalk in front of the Parrish Tire building will be closed once the fencing is installed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the opposite side of East Front Street.

In addition, the contractor for the sinkhole repair project at Tradd and Front is expected to begin work next week. We will share a confirmed start date and additional details as soon as they are available.

We appreciate your patience as progress continues on these important infrastructure improvements in downtown Statesville. Stay tuned for updates!
