2026 City Holiday Closings and Revised Sanitation Schedules

Memorial Day - Monday May 25, 2026

City of Statesville offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. There will be no garbage collection on this day.

Residential sanitation route changes for the week of May 25–29:

  • Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Wednesday.

Commercial sanitation route changes for businesses with roll-out carts or garbage containers for the week of May 25–29:

  • Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

The Statesville Recreation Center, Bentley Community Center, and Statesville Event Center will be closed on Memorial Day.

The Statesville Leisure Pool will open for the season on Saturday, May 23, and will be open on Memorial Day. Visit recreation.statesvillenc.net/aquatics for admission information and hours of operation.

The Bentley Splash Pad will remain closed until drought-related water restrictions have been lifted.

Juneteenth Day – Friday June 19, 2026

1) Residential Routes:

a) Monday routes will operate on regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

c) Thursday & Friday routes will be collected on Thursday.

2) Commercial Businesses with roll-out toters or garbage containers:

a) Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

b) Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday.

c) Saturday route will operate on their regular schedule.

Fourth of July – Friday July 3, 2026

1) Residential Routes:

a) Monday routes will be collected on their regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on their regular schedule.

c) Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday.

2) Commercial Businesses with roll-out toters or garbage containers:

a) Monday routes will be collected regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on their regular schedule.

c) Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, and Saturday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

Labor Day - Monday September 7, 2026

1) Residential Routes:

a) Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Wednesday.

c) Thursday & Friday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

2) Commercial Businesses with roll-out toters or garbage containers:

a) Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

b) Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

Veteran’s Day – Wednesday November 11, 2026

1) Residential Routes:

a) Monday routes will be picked up on collected on their regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

c) Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on their regular schedule.

2) Commercial Businesses with roll-out toters or garbage containers:

a) Monday routes will be picked up on collected on their regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected Tuesday.

c) Thursday and Friday’s and Saturday routes will be collected on their regular schedule.

Thanksgiving - Thursday & Friday November 26 & 27, 2026

1) Residential Routes:

a) Monday routes will operate on regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

c) Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday.

2) Commercial Businesses with roll-out toters or garbage containers:

a) Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Monday.

b) Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

c) Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday.

d) Saturday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

Christmas Holiday – Thursday & Friday - December 24 & 25, 2026

1) Residential Routes:

a) Monday routes will be collected on its regular day.

b) Tuesday & Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

c) Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday.

2) Commercial Businesses with roll-out toters or garbage containers:

a) Monday routes will be collected on Monday.

b) Tuesday & Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

c) Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday.

d) Saturday’s route will be on regular schedule.

New Year’s Day – Friday January 01, 2027

1) Residential Routes:

a) Monday and routes will operate on its regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be on its regular schedule.

c) Thursday and Friday routes will be picked up on Thursday.

2) Commercial Businesses with roll-out toters or garbage containers:

a) Monday will operate on its regular schedule.

b) Tuesday and Wednesday routes will operate on their regular schedule.

c) Thursday & Friday will be picked up on Thursday and Saturday routes will operate on its regular schedule.

New Year’s Day - Thursday January 01, 2026

City offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day. The Statesville Recreation Center and Bentley Community Center will operate regular hours on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Revised Residential Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedule:

  • Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Friday

Revised Commercial Roll-Out Container Collection Schedule:

  • Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Friday

Martin Luther King - Monday January 19, 2026

City of Statesville offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There will be no garbage collection on this day.

Revised Residential Sanitation Schedule (January 19-23):

🔹 Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday.
🔹 Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Wednesday.

Revised Commercial Sanitation Schedule (January 20-24):
For businesses with roll-out carts or garbage containers:
🔹 Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.

Additionally, the Statesville Recreation Center and Bentley Community Center will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2026.

Good Friday – April 03, 2026

City of Statesville offices will be closed on Friday, April 3, 2026, in observance of Good Friday. There will be no garbage collection on that day. Sanitation services for the week of March 30 through April 3 will operate on the following revised schedule:

Residential Collection

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday routes will run as scheduled.
  • Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, April 2.

Commercial Collection

For businesses with roll-out carts or garbage containers:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday routes will run as scheduled.
  • Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, April 2.
  • Saturday routes will run as scheduled.

In addition, the Statesville Recreation Center and Bentley Community Center will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Sunday, April 5, 2026.
