Statesville Fire Department Members Complete Advanced Swift Water Rescue Training

Ten members of the Statesville Fire Department recently completed advanced Swift Water Rescue training at the Swift Water Rescue Training Facility at Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The specialized training focused on victim removal from submerged vehicles in moving water environments. Firefighters conducted rescue operations in both daytime and nighttime scenarios, simulating real-world conditions where visibility, water movement, and environmental hazards can significantly increase risk.

Swift water rescues are among the most dangerous incidents emergency responders face. Fast-moving water, unstable vehicles, limited visibility, and unpredictable conditions require extensive preparation and advanced technical skills. This hands-on training strengthens the department’s ability to respond effectively and safely during flooding events, storm-related emergencies, and water rescue situations.

The Statesville Fire Department remains committed to ongoing professional development to ensure personnel are equipped with the knowledge, training, and experience necessary to protect the community in all types of emergencies.
