Front & Center: Transforming Lives Together: United Way and Statesville's Collaborative Community Efforts

City Manager, Ron Smith, Update to City Council

City Manager Ron Smith provided his monthly update to the City Council on September 16, 2024, covering several key projects and events happening in Statesville to include the Municipal Operations Center Construction Project, Statesville Regional Airport Terminal Building Construction, Statesville Police Department Expansion, and more.

Emergencies That Require Immediate Attention (the following issues are considered emergent and require a PHONE CALL):

  • REPORT A POWER OUTAGE:
    • Do not call 911 to report a power outage.
    • City of Statesville Electric Customers should report an outage by calling: 704-878-3479. Please remember to give your address and indicate that you would like to be notified when power is restored.
    • Energy United or Duke Energy customers should contact their providers directly if they experience outages.

  • POWERLINES DOWN:
    • CALL 911. To report powerlines down, please call 911. 
  • TREES IN THE ROADWAY:
    • To report trees in the roadway, please call the Statesville Police Department at their non-emergency line at 704-878-3406. All other tree issues should be addressed using the form below.
  • WATER/SEWER LEAK:
    • To report a water/sewer leak, call 704-878-3417 between the hours of 7:30am-3:30pm. After hours, call the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.

The City also offers a way to community regarding non-emergent issues as well. Residents are asked to complete the 'Report a Problem' form here to alert us of non-emergent issues that may require attention.

🔹Electric Utilities Assistant Director (Full-Time): Responsible for performing professional and administrative work overseeing the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s electric transmission and distribution system to facilitate the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of reliable electric services to customers; responsible for assisting the Electric Utilities Director in planning, organizing, and developing goals, objectives, projects, and work assignments in the Electric Utility Division.

🔹Event Service Technician - Civic Center (Part-Time, Year-Round): Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility along with the set-up and breakdown of rooms; provides customer service during facility use.

A North Carolina drought monitor map dated June 2, 2026, shows drought conditions across the state. Much of central and northern North Carolina remains in severe to extreme drought, indicated by orange and red shading. Areas of western North Carolina and portions of the coastal region are experiencing moderate drought, shown in tan. A small area in the southeastern corner of the state remains in extreme drought.
