Fiber Optic Installation Planned in the Beverly Heights Neighborhood

Last Updated 12/24/2025Posted in Latest City News, Homepage

The City of Statesville has approved a Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit for Zirrus to install underground fiber optic conduits and cables in the Beverly Heights neighborhood. Federal regulations require public rights-of-way be made available for utilities such as fiber optic infrastructure. The City’s role in this process is limited to permitting, inspection, and oversight to ensure work is completed safely and restored properly. The City does not control construction schedules or promote specific service providers.

Areas of Construction

Zirrus will be working within the public right-of-way on the following streets in the Beverly Heights neighborhood (listed in no particular order):

  • Beverly Drive
  • Macon Drive
  • Cameron Drive
  • Kenmore Drive
  • Millsaps Road
  • Museum Road – North
  • Museum Road – East
  • Chestnut Street

Work will begin on Beverly Drive, Macon Drive, Kenmore Drive, and Cameron Drive.

Construction Schedule

Construction is planned to take place in five phases, all within the Beverly Heights neighborhood. The phases are not listed in a specific order and represent estimated durations only.

  • Beverly – approximately 5 days
  • Museum North – approximately 5 days
  • Museum East – approximately 5 days
  • Chestnut – approximately 4 days
  • Millsaps – approximately 4 days

Work is scheduled to begin January 5 and is expected to be completed by January 30, weather and conditions permitting. Actual timelines may vary due to weather, utility conflicts, or other unforeseen factors.

What Residents Can Expect

During construction, residents may notice:

  • Utility markings in yards and rights-of-way prior to work beginning
  • Construction crews and equipment working within the public right-of-way
  • Temporary lane closures or brief traffic delays
  • Short-term access disruptions to driveways or sidewalks
  • Restoration of disturbed areas once work is complete

All work is required to meet City standards for traffic control, safety, and restoration.
