Public Notice: City of Statesville Board of Adjustment – Vacancies

The City of Statesville is currently accepting applications to fill three vacancies on the Board of Adjustment, including:

  • Two (2) seats for residents within the City limits
  • One (1) seat for an Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) representative who resides in Iredell County but outside the city limits and within the City’s ETJ

The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that hears and decides appeals, variance requests, and other matters as authorized by the Statesville Zoning Ordinance. Responsibilities include reviewing evidence, hearing sworn testimony, and issuing decisions based on factual findings.

Board Details:

  • Meets as needed, typically on the first Tuesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. at City Hall
  • Members serve three-year terms
  • City seats are appointed by the Statesville City Council
  • The ETJ seat is appointed by the Iredell County Board of Commissioners

Qualifications:

  • City applicants must be residents of the City of Statesville
  • ETJ applicants must reside within the designated ETJ area
  • All applicants must be willing to serve impartially and attend scheduled meetings
