Traffic Calming Measures Coming to Museum Road

Last Updated 5/21/2026Posted in Road Closure, Latest City News, Homepage

The City of Statesville will begin installing traffic calming measures on Museum Road following a traffic analysis requested by residents in the area.

The study focused on the section of Museum Road between South Chipley Ford Road and Kenmore Drive. After reviewing the data collected, the city determined the area to be a valid candidate for traffic calming measures to help reduce speeding and improve safety for residents and motorists.

The City of Statesville’s Engineering and Public Works departments have selected a modular speed hump system for the project. These devices are designed to be removable if needed for emergency situations or future road maintenance activities.

Installation work is expected to begin this week. During installation, motorists should expect temporary one-lane traffic patterns in the area.

Expected Installation Schedule

  • Tuesday, May 12, 2026: Crews will begin surveying locations for speed humps.
  • Wednesday – Friday, May 13–15, 2026: Crews will install speed humps and signage.

The City of Statesville remains committed to improving safety throughout neighborhoods and appreciates the community’s patience as traffic calming requests are reviewed and implemented across the city.

Residents and motorists are encouraged to use caution in the work zone and plan for minor traffic delays during installation.
